Pickle Ball Tournament by Carlinville Rotary Club

Who: Carlinville Rotary Club

What: Open Double's Pickleball Tournament

When: Saturday, November 9th at 12:00 PM

Where: Blackburn College's new outdoor pickleball area. The address we're using as of right now is the Demuzio Student Center at 700 College Avenue, Carlinville, IL 62626

Cost: $100 for each two-person team. High School & College Students can ask about prorated pricing at registration.

Why: This is a charity fundraiser to raise money to find out club's various community efforts.

How: Teams can register one of two ways: 1.) either at the event by providing a check made payable to "Carlinville Rotary Club" or by paying cash, or 2.) by sending an e-mail to rotarypickleball@yahoo.com & reserving a spot in the spot in the tourney ahead of time (they will still have to pay by check or cash at the event). If a team hasn't pre-registered via e-mail, teams will be entered into the tourney on a first-come, first serve basis until all 24 available team spots have been filled.

Prizes: We have prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place.

MCDD Beaver Dam Dash

This trail race is run on mostly single track in beautiful Beaver Dam State Park and is a fund raiser for Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled (MCDD). This event has both a 5K and 10K distance. We are excited to announce we are adding a Fun Run/Walk for 2024 of approximately a one mile long distance. Long sleeved tech/dri fit shirts are guaranteed to those registered by midnight Oct 20th. Race day registration will be available but a race shirt will not be guaranteed.

Owl Presentation at Carlinville Library

Award-winning naturalist Mark H.X. Glenshaw returns to the Carlinville Public Library to share what he has been able to observe and document of the breeding cycle of the Great Horned Owls he has closely observed and documented in Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri since December 2005. Mark’s talk, "Forest Park Owls: Mating, Nesting and Owlets" will take a close look at: mating, nest selection, feeding of the owlets, fledging and gradual maturation of owlets, and the dispersal of the owlets. The program uses many of his photos and videos to illustrate these amazing behaviors of these beautiful birds. https://www.facebook.com/events/2280317112324134/

Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics is back to haunt the Macoupin County Fairground! ONE NIGHT ONLY - Drive through the CAH&C Fright Farm. It's full of spooky surprises and farm-fresh frights!

This is a free event however, this year CAH&C will be collecting monetary donations for the Carlinville Food Pantry at the drive-thru (Check or cash only).

*Small children's area will be available with an optional exit before going into the scary section.

Our ghostly farmhands hope to see you there!

Merchants night on the Square, several locations off the square on East & West Main St., Daley St., at the Plaza, the Fairgrounds, The Village at Morse Farm, and the Anderson Mansion! Local businesses and organizations will be handing out candy on the square. Candy, Games, & more!
