ANNUAL LIGHTING CEREMONY

ANNUAL LIGHTING CEREMONY

The Carlinville Christmas Lighting Ceremony is one of our town’s most cherished traditions. Each year, families gather on the Square as local preschool children fill the air with Christmas carols, creating a moment that feels straight out of a holiday movie. The mayor and our Carlinville Queens lead the official countdown, and with a cheer from the crowd, the Square comes to life with twinkling lights that glow against the historic backdrop of our downtown.

Once the lights are shining, you’ll hear sirens in the distance as Santa arrives aboard the Carlinville Fire Department truck. He makes his way to his cottage on the Square, where children can visit, share their Christmas wishes, and take in the magic of the season.

It is a gentle, joyful evening that reminds us what makes Carlinville so special. A celebration of community, tradition, and the simple wonder of Christmas.
