Tour De Milk Help
The Tour de Milk returns to Carlinville on Saturday, September 26, bringing cyclists from throughout the region to our community for one of Carlinville's longtime cycling traditions.
The ride starts and finishes at Carlinville Plaza and has become much more than a bike ride. Tour de Milk promotes healthy living, supports area organizations and gives visitors another reason to experience Carlinville.
This year, organizers are asking Carlinville businesses and organizations to help make the experience even better for the riders who come to town.
Adopt a Rest Stop
Two rest stops need volunteers!
Organizers are looking for one or two people at each location to greet riders and manage water and snacks. All of the supplies will be provided, so volunteers simply need to bring a friendly face and a few hours of their Saturday morning.
The commitment is approximately three to four hours, and businesses or organizations are welcome to represent themselves while they're there.
Think of it as your business getting to be part of the Carlinville experience for every rider who comes through your stop.
Bring the Cowbells!
Here's an even easier way to get involved.
Grab your employees, friends or organization members, bring some cowbells and make some noise for the riders!
Organizers would love to have small groups cheering at several intersections along the route, particularly near the start of the ride.
Signs, cowbells, cheers and a few enthusiastic Carlinville faces can completely change what it feels like to ride through a town.
In fact, creating more community support along the route is something Tour de Milk organizers would specifically like to grow, taking inspiration from the enthusiastic atmosphere riders experience at other area cycling events.
Why It Matters
Tour de Milk isn't only an event happening in Carlinville. It's an opportunity to introduce people to Carlinville.
For ten years, riders have traveled here from across the Midwest and beyond to participate. The way they're welcomed while they're here becomes part of their impression of our community.
A staffed rest stop. A group ringing cowbells. People cheering as they ride past. Those are little things, but they're exactly the kind of things that can make someone leave thinking, that was a fun town.
